Burdock root is a vegetable native to northern Asia and Europe. The deep roots of the burdock plant are very long and range in color from beige to brown.
Burdock root is commonly used in Asian cuisine, particularly in Japanese dishes like gobo (burdock root stir-fry) and soups.
Using: Boil ½ teaspoon for 7-10 minutes, let it rest for 5 minutes after taking it off the heat, strain it and do it.
The root is very crisp and has a sweet, mild, and pungent flavor with a little muddy harshness that can be reduced by soaking julienned/shredded roots in water for five to ten minutes.
Traditional Use
Burdock root is one of the best-known cleansing herbs of European and Asian tradition. It is traditionally used:
