Uncaria tomentosa, commonly known as cat’s claw, is a tropical vine native to the Amazon rainforest and other parts of Central and South America. Known for its hook-like thorns resembling a cat's claw. Uncaria tomentosa is a plant belonging to the Rubiaceae (coffee) family. The main parts used are usually the inner bark and the root. Cat’s claw bark is dense, fibrous, and tough. The bark itself has a light to dark brown color and is relatively thick. Cat's claw bark tea has an earthy, slightly bitter taste with hints of woodiness.
Using: To make cat’s claw tea, use about 1 teaspoon (or 1-2 grams) of dried bark per cup of water. Boil for about 15-20 minutes to allow the hard bark to fully infuse the water, then strain.
