Dried Acacia Flowers / Wattle Flower / Acacia Tea / Wattle Flower Tea

Origin: Bulgaria
Botanical Name: Acacia
Other Names: Wattles, Mimosa flowers, Cassie flowers, Gum Arabic flowers, Babul flowers, Thorntrees, Yellow-fever acacias, Acacia blossoms

Acacia flowers come from trees and shrubs of the genus Acacia, which belong to the pea family (Fabaceae). Acacia trees are native to various regions around the world, including Africa, Australia, and parts of Asia and the Americas. The flowers of Acacia trees are often small, fragrant, and arranged in clusters. They can vary in color, with shades of yellow, cream, white, or pink being common. In many cultures, acacia flowers hold symbolic and cultural significance. They are often associated with qualities such as resilience, purity, and renewal. Dried acacia flower tea is often appreciated for its light, floral flavor and subtle fragrance.

Usage: Boil 1 cup water. Add the 1-2 teaspoons dried acacia flowers to the water. Let the flowers steep in the hot water for about 5-10 minutes. Strain.

Traditional Use

In Bulgarian folk tradition, the fragrant white blossoms of the black locust tree are brewed into a gently sweet, soothing tea. They are traditionally used:

  • As a warming tea in the cold season, to support the respiratory system and soothe the throat
  • To calm the stomach and support comfortable digestion, easing occasional bloating and gas
  • As a relaxing evening cup; often blended with linden flowers for an even more soothing tea
  • Cooled, as a refreshing mouth rinse

Harvest & Character

Hand-picked in late spring when the white flower clusters are fully open. Creamy white flowers with a delicate, honey-like scent. Only the flowers are used.
