Equisetum arvense, the field horsetail or common horsetail, is an herbaceous perennial plant in the Equisetidae (horsetails) sub-class, native throughout the arctic and temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Equisetum arvense creeps extensively with its slender and felted rhizomes that freely fork and bear tubers. Horsetail got its name due to its resemblance to the tail of a horse.
Horsetail tea, with its light taste and aroma, is an herbal drink prepared from the dried or fresh horsetail fern (Equisetum arvense), also known as the shave grass, found in North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Using: Boil water in a pot or kettle. Place 1-2 teaspoons of dried horsetail herb in a teapot or a cup. Pour the boiling water over the dried herb. Cover the teapot or cup and let it steep for about 5-10 minutes. Steeping time can vary depending on your desired strength. Strain.

- Externally, in washes, compresses and gargles
