ORIGIN OF BULGARIA
Botanical Name: Alchemilla Vulgaris
Other Names: Lion's foot, Dewcup, Nine-hooks, Bear's foot
Lady's mantle (Alchemilla vulgaris), native to Europe and Greenland, is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Rosaceae (rose) family, which loves cold climates and is resistant to very low temperatures. In the past, it was the subject of many legends, and it was believed by alchemists that the dew drops gathered from its leaves could turn certain metals into gold. It is commonly referred to in folk tradition as a "women's herb". Lady's mantle tea has a mild, earthy, and herbal flavor with gentle green notes, a subtle bitterness, and a clean, slightly dry mouthfeel due to its natural tannins.
Usage: 2 teaspoons of the herb are steeped in 250 ml of boiling water and then strained.
Traditional Use
Lady's mantle has been known as a women's herb in European folk tradition for centuries; its Latin name Alchemilla comes from the alchemists, who collected the dew drops on its leaves. It is traditionally used:
- By women, to support comfort and balance during the monthly cycle
- To support women's wellbeing in every stage of life
- To support digestive comfort and regularity
- Externally, in washes and compresses for the skin and as an eye compress
