Origin: Bulgaria
Botanical Name: Onopordum Acanthium

The Scotch thistle, scientifically known as Onopordum acanthium, is a biennial plant species belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is native to Europe and Asia but has been introduced to other parts of the world, including North America and Australia. It is a vigorous plant with coarse, spiny leaves and conspicuous spiny-winged stems. This plant is characterized by its tall stature, reaching heights of up to 6 to 10 feet (about 1.8 to 3 meters). It has large, spiny leaves with white veins and produces distinctive purple flower heads surrounded by spiny bracts. The flowers typically bloom in the summer months.

Usage: Boil 1 cup water. Place the 1 teaspoon dried Scotch thistle herb in a teapot or heatproof container. Pour the boiling water over the herb. Cover the teapot or container and let the tea steep for about 5-10 minutes. Strain.
