Epilobium Parviflorum

Small Flowering Willow Herb / Epilobium Parviflorum / Organic Dried Bulk Herb / Epilobium Herb / Herbal Tea

ORIGIN OF BULGARIA
Botanical Name: Epilobium parviflorum
Other Names: Small flowered willow herb, hoary willowherb, epilobi herba, sparse flowered willow herb

Epilobium parviflorum, commonly known as the hoary willowherb or smallflower hairy willowherb, is a herbaceous perennial plant of the family Onagraceae. The genus name derives from the Greek words "epi" meaning "upon" and "lobos" meaning "lobe", with reference to position of the petals above the ovary. The specific Latin name of "parviflorum" means "small flowers". The biological form of Epilobium parviflorum is hemicryptophyte scapose, as its overwintering buds are situated just below the soil surface and the floral axis is more or less erect with a few leaves. Epilobium parviflorum reaches on average 30–80 centimetres (12–31 in) in height. Its fine aromatic taste can be likened to corn salad which makes it a perfect companion for summery meals.

Using: Add one teaspoon of herb per cup of boiled water and let it steep for 15-20 mins.

Traditional Use

Small-flowered willowherb is a slender wild herb of riverbanks and meadows, made famous in Central Europe by the herbalist Maria Treben. It is traditionally used:

  • To support men's wellbeing and healthy prostate function
  • To support the bladder, kidneys and urinary system
  • As a natural source of flavonoids, tannins and vitamins A and C
  • Traditionally drunk at room temperature, unsweetened: one cup in the morning and one in the evening
